Match Report

On Whit Monday, Tufnell Park and Golders Green met for two League points and also for the [Will] Mather Cup, the gate being donated to the Manor House Hospital.

Tufnell Park, who were assisted by Milne and Broome, loaned players, were the better and more constructive side, and deserved their win. The Golders Green attack lacked punch. Fair was the most forceful forward. Stroud reverted to his old fault of individualism and so spoiled much otherwise good work.

The Park took the lead in three minutes, when Richards headed home from Weston's corner. Griffiths soon netted what appeared a good goal, but after consulting a linesman, the referee disallowed it on the ground of a foul on Moon. After 25 minutes Golders Green equalised, Fair converting a good corner by Stroud.

Five minutes after the interval, Tufnell Park again took the lead, when Richards eluded the Green's defence and shot home. Fair had bad luck when a good drive hit the cross-bar, and soon afterwards Golders Green had a second goal disallowed, Griffiths being ruled offside.

Ten minutes from the end, Stovell beat Bossoms and centred for Richards to score the Park's third.
