Match Report

Hampstead [Town] won both their Athenian League games this season with Bromley. In their home encounter last Saturday they secured a decisive victory by 2 goals to 0, and looked easy winners throughout the match. They scored early through C. Wise, who converted a fine centre by H.S. White, and subsequently E.A. Vines, the visiting goalkeeper, had to make some smart saves. The Bromley defence played well, and it was some time after the interval before Hampstead scored again. Travers Day failed to make good with a penalty kick awarded for a foul against him, but later he put the finishing touches to a splendid individual effort by S. Briscoe, who played in his best form at outside-right. W.E. Brewer, one of the Town's most consistent players, played well in the unaccustomed position of left-half, and Lewis Smith operated finely at centre. R.S. Allen proved a worthy deputy in goal for C.B. Evans, whose thumb injury is progressing satisfactorily.
