Match Report

On Monday morning an early start was made for Guernsey Island, where on arrival at 9.30 the party received another ovation from the large crowd at the quayside.

Football is even more popular in Guernsey, and a great holiday crowd of over 7,000 attended at the cycling track for the important match with Guernsey Island for the Victory Cup and gold medals.

Hampstead won the toss, and within five minutes were one up, Lewis Smith converting a penalty for hands. McCracken again distinguished himself in goal, saving a penalty and playing brillliantly throughout. Hampstead eventually won an exciting game by four goals to three, their other marksmen being Travers Day (2) and F.G. Young.

The cup and medals were presented immediately after the match by Col. F.H. Dorling, D.S.O., who warmly congratulated the Hampstead team on their fine display and good sportsmanship.

A dance was held at the Channel Islands Hotel in honour of the visit of the team, and during the evening a presentation of a handsome case of pipes was made by the party to Mr. W.J. Styles, hon. secretary of the club, and organiser of a most successful and enjoyable tour.
