Match Report

On Saturday Hampstead visited Southall, and after a very poor game were defeated by four goals to one. Southall opened the score through Spalton, who scored with a cross-shot, the ball entering the net after hitting an upright, and prior to the interval, following a run on the left and centre by Mitson, Breagan gave Southall a two-goal lead.

The second half was contested in an even strain, but Hampstead were weak in front of goal. Mitson, however, put his side futher ahead with a rising shot, and this was soon followed by the fourth through Breagan [West Middlesex Gazette says Spalton}, from a pass by Collett. The former, however, appeared to be offside. Just before the final whistle Evans, receiving a pass from Walsh, scored Hampstead's solitary point with a good cross-shot.

For Hampstead, Compton, Young and Walsh were the pick of the side, the team, no doubt, feeling the effect of the strain of having played four matches in eight days.
