Match Report

On Good Friday, Hampstead visited Enfield and lost two valuable League points by four goals to one. Minter was unable to play, Bucci moved to inside-right, and A.W. Mander, the Midland Bank captain, came in at left-half. Enfield won the toss and set Hampstead to face a strong wind.

After about twenty minutes' play Evans put in a great shot to open the score for Hampstead, and shortly afterwards Bramley, when well placed, should have increased the lead, but shot wide. Enfield tried hard to get on terms, but the Hampstead defence withstood heavy pressure until five minutes from the interval when W. Green, the Enfield outside-right, cleverly worked his way across to the left wing and passed to Gaunt, who scored. Two minutes later Green again evaded the Hampstead defence and this time passed forward to Magner, who gave Enfield the lead.

For twenty minutes after the interval Hampstead pressed, but were unable to score. Bucci put in several shots, but without success. Green then got away on the right, centred for Irons to put Enfield further ahead, and shortly before the end Green finished a good afternoon by converting a centre by Irons.
