Match Report

A curtain of mist obscured a thrilling game at Barnet last Saturday when a high standard of football resulted in ten goals being scored.

Golders Green took the field without Pat Lynch (hurt in an accident), but their attack was strengthened by Avis, who was home on leave.

He, Topp at centre half and Roberts in goal played great games, making the Green into a live force.

The Barnet attack was very forceful, the wingers Jordan and Reilly shining, but their defence was not so strong.

The first goal came from Stroud after ten minutes' play. Reilly quickly equalised for Barnet. Griffiths netted from a perfect pass by Avis to put the Green in the lead again. From then until the end of play there was a ding-dong battle with neither side gaining a clear lead.

The 5-5 draw was a fair result, and reflected the strengths of each team.
