Match Report

Hendon cruised to a comfortable 4-1 win at AFC Hayes on Thursday night, despite making 10 changes to the starting line-up that beat Queens Park Rangers 48 hours earlier.

The Greens drew first blood as early as the 3rd minute when Danny Dyer curled a beautiful free kick into the net after Casey Maclaren had been fouled just outside the penalty area.

Hendon were well in control of the game, although the home side did have one very good chance to score, but the striker inexplicably lifted the ball over the bar.

The lead was doubled in the 22nd minute when Lee Scott bustled his way past the challenges of two defenders, and beat the keeper with a fine strike.

AFC Hayes made 4 substitutions on the half hour mark, and this seemed to bring them more confidence and solidity in defence. That said, both Scott and new trialist Nathaniel Gordon, an attacking player who was at Tilbury last season, had efforts that went narrowly wide of goal.

The home side had more possession in the second half, but in the 65th minute Gary McCann made two subsitutions, one of which was to prove perfect.

Within 50 seconds of entering the field of play, Richmond Agyeman took possession of the ball 20 yards from goal, looked up, and curled the ball past the keeper into the net.

Four minutes later, the Greens gave away a sloppy penalty which was converted, but that was to be the last of any chances for AFC Hayes.

The final goal of the evening came in the 87th minute when Glenn Garner slotted the ball home from the edge of the area.
