Match Report

Hampstead Town were compelled to field a weak team for their Middlesex Senior Cup tie with Barnet, owing to the ineligibility under the rules of the county competition of recent additions to their team. They were further handicapped by the enforced absence of their crack inside left, C. Wise, who accompanied the English team to Wolverhampton for the Amateur International game with Wales. Despite their better combination, Barnet were held at bay for more than three parts of the game, the fine defensive work of the Hampstead backs, H. Baxter and S. Dunstone, securing warm approval.

Twenty minutes before time, A. Jennings scored a lucky goal from a miskick by Dunstone. After E. Watkins had followed this up with a really good effort, Hampstead attacked strongly, and appeared to score when A.R. Green carried the ball into the net before clearing a dropping shot by Baxter. They were again unfortunate in not scoring from a perfectly-placed corner by S. Briscoe, and from this failure the Barnet left winger, F. Thompson, secured the ball, raced away from the field, and beat Bruty with a good oblique shot, Barnet thus winning easily by three goals to none.
