Hendon ran out 2-1 winners in the annual friendly against landlords Wembley at Vale Farm this afternoon. Once again, the Greens fielded a number of trialists, including experienced goalkeeper Noel Imber.
Both goals for the Greens came in the opening 15 minutes courtesy of Casey Maclaren and Isaiah Rankin, whilst Wembley pulled a goal back with a fine effort just before the hour mark.

Further work has been undertaken on the website archive during the period between the wars. Line ups and goalscorer information has been updated for the early 1920s, as well as the mid 1930s, from information that has been researched by two or three of our supporters.

We warmly welcome Elliott to the club and hope that he enjoys his time with us.

An 83rd minute strike from Aaron Morgan was enough to win tonight's friendly at Biggleswade Town, the Greens first victory in pre-season.
Hendon fielded two experienced trialists in former Northwood, Wealdstone and Hampton & Richmond Borough striker Lawrence Yaku, as well as midfielder Elliott Godfrey who has also appeared for Hampton, as well as Boreham Wood, AFC Wimbledon and Watford. A third trialist, Hasan Soloman came on as a subsitute in the second half.
The first half was an evenly matched affair, with chances at a premium. Indeed, throughout the game Berkley Laurencin only had to make one save of note, although he was called upon to make a number of clearances in the second half.
The goal came when Kevin Maclaren slid the ball into the path of Morgan, and he had no hesitation in firing the ball past the keeper from 20 yards.

We are also now offering the option of sponsoring both the home and away kits for a combined total of £120. Sock sponsorship is available for under-16s for just £5. Also corporate sponsorship is available for £120.

Following last night's game at Cobham, defender Liam Hind became the latest player to sign Ryman League forms for the new season.
The 22 year old began his career in the youth academy at Hayes, and last season played for Walton Casuals.
We welcome Liam to the club, and we hope his time with us is a successful one.

A squad that included a number of trialists, including former Arsenal, Barnsley & Brentford striker Isaiah Rankin, travelled to Cobham this evening and drew 2-2.
The home side took the lead in the 44th minute, which was the only goal of the first period. Casey Maclaren equalised in the 50th minute, and Aaron Morgan put the Greens ahead eight minutes later, but Cobham equalised five minutes from time.

The other nine teams exempt are AFC Wimbledon, Bromley, Cray Wanderers, Harrow Borough, Kingstonian, Metropolitan Police, Tooting & Mitcham United, Welling United and Wingate & Finchley.
The 10 teams will be joined by the 6 winners from the 3rd round, with the draw to be made at a later date.

Hendon's pre-season trip to Conference South club Havant & Waterlooville ended in a stalemate, with a strong defensive performance being key to the 0-0 draw. The Greens' back line was strengthened further by Elliott Braithwaite, previously with Boreham Wood, at centre-back and hard work from the defence ensured the Hawks were to get few chances to work Laurencin. At the other end, Ngyoi was unfortunate not to score late on, but he screwed his shot wide of the target with just the 'keeper to beat.

We have spend the past few days putting on a number of match reports from the pre-1st World War period.
The earliest report found so far dates from 13th March 1909, when a friendly against Hendon Crescent was staged at the Christ Church ground in Cricklewood Lane.
To see the reports, go to the results archives, select the season you want to look at, and click the report link next to the fixture.

The first team squad head to the south coast tomorrow afternoon for a trip to Blue Square South side Havant & Waterlooville. This will be the first time we will have met the Hawks since the merger of Havant Town and Waterlooville in June 1998.
However, we did meet Havant Town in October 1997 in the FA Trophy, coming through in a replay at Claremont Road, and we met Waterlooville in FA competitions both in the 1970s and 1990s.
Kick off at West Leigh Park is at 3.00pm.

The draw for this season's Middlesex Senior Cup has been released, and we have been given a bye in the first round.
In the second round we have been drawn at home to Uxbridge, with the tie provisionally pencilled in for Tuesday 6th December at Vale Farm. Should we win that tie, we will be at home to Hanworth Villa or Hillingdon Borough in the quarter finals.

Gary McCann is pleased to announce the signing of Carl McCluskey, who signed Ryman League forms this evening having impressed in the first two friendlies.
Although nominally a midfielder, following his performance against Barnet on Tuesday, he is clearly also comfortable in defence. Carl joins us from Bedfont Town and we hope that he enjoys his time with us.

We will be staging Youth Team trials on Sunday 31 July for teams at Under-13s, Under-14s and Under-15s. We are on the lookout for players at all three age groups.
Anyone interested in coming along for the trials should contact Hendon FC Youth Development Officer Alan Rolnick on 07974 921065 for more details. Alternatively applications can be made by email to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Mr Rolnick said, "We are looking for players with talent who have experience of playing club football already. But, as well as their playing ability, their attitude and behaviour are equally important."

An 87th minute equaliser from 35 yards by Dave Diedhiou earnt the first team a draw against a young Barnet side this evening. Barnet's goal had come early in the second half.
There were just two new trialists in the squad today, midfielder Alan Murray, and striker Liridon Kolaj.

Tuesday's friendly against the young Barnet XI will now be played on one of the 3G pitches at the The Hive, and will kick off at the earlier time of 7:15pm.
The switch of venue is due to the fact the Vale Farm pitch isn't yet quite ready to take a game, and we grateful to Barnet for their co-operation in allowing the game to be played at The Hive.
There will be no admission charge for the game, but car drivers are advised that there may be a small charge for parking.

Hendon put in a decent performance in their first friendly, despite losing 1-0 to a Boreham Wood side who already had two pre-season games under their belt.
The only goal came in the 5th minute when Ali Chaaban converted a penalty having been brought down by Berkley Laurencin, the only thing the young keeper did wrong all afternoon.
The best chance for the Greens fell to trialist Carl McCluskey who saw his shot well saved early in the second half.

With apologies for the short notice, Boreham Wood have confirmed the admission prices for this afternoon's game. Admission will be £8 for adults and £4 for concessions, a considerable reduction on their normal matchday admission, which is £12 for adults. We look forward to seeing you there in a few hours.

The first team have been in training for the past fortnight, and their preparations for the new season take a step up as we travel to Boreham Wood tomorrow afternoon.
Our opponents finished in a very respectable 14th place in their first season in Blue Square South after a tough start to the campaign, and they will be keen to build on that this season.
We are very grateful to Boreham Wood for hosting the game, which is a regular fixture in the preseason programme when we aren't in the same division. Kick off at Meadow Park tomorrow is at 3.00pm for your first opportunity to see how Gary and team are getting on with their preparations.

Our forthcoming fixture against the young Barnet XI on Tuesday evening, will now not be played at Vale Farm. This is because the stadium pitch is not quite ready to take a game, and Wembley are understandably keen to ensure that the pitch is ready for the start of their season in 3 weeks time.
We are currently looking to see if we can find an alternative venue to stage the game - so please keep checking the website for further updates.

Alan Rolnick, our youth development officer, has confirmed that managers have been appointed for our new under 13, under 14 and under 15 sides that will play in the Harrow Youth League this coming season.
The under 13s will be jointly managed by a duo who are already known to the club. John McKinney and Dave Stewart both played for the reserves just over 10 years ago and Dave also made 8 first team appearances, most of which came towards the end of the 2000-01 season.
The under 14s and under 15s will both be managed by people new to the club. Taking charge of the under 14s is Nathan Smith, whilst Andrew Reith will be looking after the under 15s.
We are delighted that John, Dave, Nathan and Andrew have all agreed to join the club in these very important roles, and we wish them every success during their time with us.

As you will be aware, we have a very small bunch of supporters who carry out a range of duties on home match days. One of these duties is to sweep out the dressing rooms (home, away and referee) after the game has finished and players and officials have vacated. It's manual work but not especially strenuous.
Those carrying out this duty do not miss any part of the game.
We're down to around 3 people who are willing and able to carry out this two-man duty. It's just not fair to them and so we really do now need to be able to share this duty around a little more.
Without additional volunteers, we will be forced to pay for someone to sweep out the dressing rooms and this will drain our already stretched resources even further.
Would you be prepared to volunteer this duty a couple of times a season? If so, please either speak to Simon Lawrence, or send an email to email@example.com and your name & contact details will be passed on.

The Ryman League fixtures for the new season were released a few minutes ago, and we begin our campaign with a home game against Concord Rangers on Saturday 20th August.
That is closely followed by a midweek trip to Bury Town, a trip to Carshalton Athletic, and then a bank holiday home game against Harrow Borough, the return fixture against at Earlsmead taking place on Monday 2nd January.
On Boxing Day we entertain Wingate & Finchley, with the return fixture taking place on Easter Monday (9th April), whilst on New Year's Eve we entertain Bury Town.
The full fixture list can be found on the fixtures page.

One more player signed Ryman League forms this afternoon to join those who have already registered for the new season. Danny Dyer has put pen to paper, meaning that, so far, 13 players from the squad that finished the season with us have confirmed they are staying with the club, with hopefully at least 3 more to be added to that list in the next few days.

The FA have released the draws for the FA Cup and FA Trophy in the past few minutes.
In the first qualifying round of the FA Cup we have been drawn away to AFC Hayes, Tring Athletic or Hanwell Town. The game will be played on Saturday 17th September.
In the first qualifying round of the FA Trophy we have also been drawn away, and have a tough test as we travel to Canvey Island. This game will be played on Saturday 22nd October.

The first team squad have now had two sessions of pre-season training as they prepare for the forthcoming campaign. As well as our three new signings, James Fisher, Sean Thomas and Junior Lewis, a number of last season's squad have now confirmed they are staying with the club and have signed Ryman League forms.
Those players are Bradley Ambrose, James Burgess, Jamie Busby, Scott Cousins, Dave Diedhiou, Rakatahr Hudson, Casey Maclaren, Kevin Maclaren, Aaron Morgan, Lee O'Leary, James Parker, Michael Peacock.
More players are expected to sign forms over the next few days, and those names will be announced once the necessary paperwork has been completed.

The FA Cup and FA Trophy draws, as well as the league fixtures for the new season are all due to be released in the next week or so.
The FA are due to release the draws for the FA Cup and FA Trophy on Friday morning, whilst the league fixtures are due to be released on Wednesday 13th July. As always, as soon as we receive the necessary information we will update the website.
Due to the expulsion of Rushden & Diamonds from the Blue Square Bet Premier, and the resultant reallocation of clubs, Thurrock have returned to the Blue Square Bet South, whilst Aveley have been reprieved from relegation and remain in the Ryman League Premier Division.
