Saturday 31 July - Battling Hendon unable to score

Hendon put in a hard working, battling performance at Boreham Wood this afternoon, but were unable to find the back of the net.

The home side ran out 1-0 winners, thanks to a 9th minute goal from Sherwin Stanley. The Greens worked hard, but the experienced home defence was very solid and kept things down to a few half chances.

Saturday 31 July - Good test ahead today

Gary McCann's squad have a good test ahead of them today as they travel to Blue Square South side Boreham Wood. Kick off at Meadow Park is 3.00pm.

Boreham Wood won both league fixtures between the two clubs last season, winning 2-1 at home, and 1-0 at Vale Farm, but both games were close fought affairs. They finished the season on a high note progressing through the play-offs where they beat Kingstonian 2-0 in the final.

The game will give the Greens an idea of the standards they have to reach if they want to be in contention at the right end of the table this season.

Friday 30 July - Snowball draw results

The May, June and July snowball draws were made at last night's supporters trust AGM, with a total of over £1100 of prizes being given away.

The snowball draw is one of many important income streams for the club, and the sheer importance of increasing our income was highlighted at last night's AGM.

You don't have to be a regular supporter of the club to join the draw, so why not see if you can persuade family, friends and work colleagues to join the draw. Each ball is just £5 per month which gives those who enter a chance of winning part of the monthly prize fund that is currently over £350.

Also, if you don't enter, you don't get a chance of winning the annual December snowball jackpot, which this year is expected to be over £1000.

If you would like to enter, or indeed require any further details about the draw, please click the snowball advert on the front page of the website, speak to any member of the supporters trust board, or email us at admin@hendonfc.net and we'll email an application form to you.

The prize winners drawn last night are as follows :

May : 1st prize (£267.00) 157, 2nd prize (£133.50) 202

June : 1st prize (£237.00) 72, 2nd prize (£118.50) 165

July : 1st prize (£241.50) 108, 2nd prize (£120.75) 131

All prize winners will be contacted in the next few days.

Thursday 29 July - Impressive win for Under 21s

Our under 21 side played their first friendly of pre-season this evening and had an impressive 5-0 victory over Sport London e Benfica FC.

Joint-manager Graeme Bourne was delighted with the result, and especially the performance against a side who play two levels above our U21s in the Spartan South Midlands League.

Wednesday 28 July - Solitary goal enough for Brentford

A solitary goal around the half hour mark was enough for a Brentford XI to win 1-0 at Vale Farm this evening. The goal was a fine effort from Chris Bush.

Aside from the goal, Brentford had a chance hit the bar, whilst the Greens played a good passing game, and created a few chances.

Gary McCann was pleased with the performance after the game, saying that it was a good workout.

Tuesday 27 July - Brentford come visiting tomorrow

Tomorrow evening sees the first of our two home friendlies take place against a Brentford XI. We have been told to expect a strong side to be fielded by the Bees.

Gary McCann is good friends with Brentford boss Andy Scott, as they were in the same squad at Sutton United some years ago.

Admission tomorrow evening is just £5 adults, £2 concessions and £1 for under 16s. Programmes will be on sale for £2. The 20 page programme will cover both the Brentford and QPR games and has no adverts in it.

We hope that as many of you as possible will be able to attend tomorrow, and indeed next Tuesday, as both these games will hopefully provide valuable additional income for the club.

Kick off at Vale Farm will be at 7.45pm.

Monday 26 July - Canaries friendly ends goalless

Hendon's friendly at Hitchin Town tonight ended up goalless in a game where clear cut chances were at a premium.

Gary McCann took a look at two more trialists in the shape of Aaron Lansiquot and Aaron Morgan, who both impressed for Hillingdon Borough on Thursday, and the latter did have a hand in creating a few half-chances in the second half.

Hendon's best chance of the game fell to Jamie Busby, but his shot from the edge of the box was deflected wide for a corner.

Sunday 25 July - One more signs on

One further player has been registered for the new season in the form of Fabion Simms. The 20 year old appeared in the game against Wembley yesterday, having been with Kentish Town last season.

Sunday 25 July - Middlesex Senior Cup draw

The Middlesex Senior Cup draw has been made, and in the first round we will entertain Enfield Town. The date for the game is to be confirmed, but is likely to be during November. Should we progress, we would then travel to Wingate & Finchley in the second round.

Saturday 24 July - Hendon win Vale Farm friendly

Hendon beat landlords and hosts Wembley FC by a comprehensive scoreline this afternoon, running out 7-0 winners at Vale Farm this afternoon. The match was played at a relatively leisurely pace, and it wasn't until the 28th minute that the deadlock was broken, Lubomir Guentchev lobbing Wembley's goalkeeper from the edge of the penalty area. Glenn Garner then showed a cutting edge the Greens had largely been lacking last season by netting four times in just 27 minutes - twice before the interval and twice afterwards.

As the second half wore on and both sides made substitutions, the difference in level of football began to tell, with the visiting side spending more time with the ball and attacking, although the contest finished as early as the 76th minute, Lee Scott and Richmond Agyeman completing the scoring.

Two new faces turned out for the Greens today - Eddie Manully at right back, and Fabian Simms, who spent time with Kentish Town last season.

Thursday 22 July - Hendon beaten by Hillingdon

Despite a 2-1 defeat to a Hillingdon Borough this evening, Gary McCann was not disatisfied with the performance of the 21 players who took the field.

The home side, who are managed by former player Gary Meakin, took the lead after just 65 seconds, before Lubo Guentchev equalised midway through the half. The winning goal was scored by Hillingdon on the counter-attack.

Wednesday 21 July - Friendlies coming thick and fast

The pre-season friendlies are now coming thick and fast, starting with tomorrow evening's visit to Hillingdon Borough. Kick off at the Middlesex Stadium in Breakspear Road, Ruislip will be at 7.45pm.

Then on Saturday afternoon, we play our first game of the summer at Vale Farm, when we are the away side as we face our landlords Wembley. Kick off on Saturday will be at 3.00pm.

Two days later, on Monday, we travel to our old friends Hitchin Town, who lost in the play-offs last season in their bid to reach the Southern League Premier Division. Kick off at Top Field is at 7.45pm, and Hitchin have announced that admission prices will be £5 adults, £3 concessions and £1 for under 16s.

Unfortunately, at the time of writing, we don't know what the admission charges will be for the games against Hillingdon and Wembley.

There are two options. For £50, a programme will be put aside for you in the club shop, and you can collected on matchdays.

Alternatively, and particularly if you are living away from the area and unable to get to games, you can have programmes delivered to you for £75 to cover the season.

The subscription covers all league and cup matches throughout the season.

If we receive your application for a subscription by Tuesday 27th July, we will include the programme that is being issued to cover the friendly games against Brentford and QPR.

Friday 16 July - Roy Harwood departs

It is with much disappointment that Gary McCann has announced the departure of coach Roy Harwood who joined the backroom staff a year ago.

Unfortunately Roy has been unable to commit to the new season and both the management team and the players are disappointed that he has left the club.

Gary, Freddie, Mark and the players would like to thank Roy for all his efforts over the past year, and also state how much they enjoyed his company in the dressing room. Gary has said that he totally respects Roy's reasons for leaving the club, and everyone at the club wishes Roy well for the future.

Thursday 15 July - Volunteers required to man stall

We are looking for some volunteers to help man a stall publicising the club, and in return, the club will be pleased to offer free entry to either of the Brentford or QPR friendlies to anyone who is able to help out.

It has become clear that the local community are not aware that the club is now playing at Vale Farm, and the supporters trust board felt that something should be done to publicise the club. As a result, we will be manning a stall outside The Swan pub in Sudbury on Saturday 24th July to hand out leaflets and make people aware that we are there.

Anyone who is interested in helping should contact Eddie Edwards on eddieedd@hendonfc.net as soon as possible, and he will be able to give you more information.

Thursday 15 July - Player sponsorship now available

With 21 players now registered for the new season, we are pleased to launch this season's player sponsorships following the success of the scheme over the past two years.

All those who sponsored players last season were contacted a couple of weeks ago to give them first option on sponsorship again this season. Now we have given them a chance to respond, we are opening it up to anyone else who would like to sponsor a player for the new season.

You can sponsor a home or away kit for £90, and under 16s can sponsor socks for £5. We also have corporate sponsorship available for £175 if your employers would like to take up sponsorship.

In return, your name will appear in the matchday programme throughout the season, on the player's profile, and also on the sponsorship page on the website.

A list of available players can be found by clicking the Advertising and Sponsorship link on the menu, and then choosing the player sponsorship option. You can also download the application form from the same page.

Forms and payment can either be posted to Steve Rogers at the address on the form, or handed to him or any member of the supporters trust board on any matchday, or indeed at the AGM.

Any questions about the scheme should be directed to Steve Rogers and you can email him on steve_rogers2506@btinternet.com.

Wednesday 14 July - Gary signs exciting prospect

Gary McCann is delighted to announce that he secured the signing last night of an exciting prospect in 19 year old Jon-Jo Bates, who has joined us from Bedfont Green.

Jon-Jo has been tracked by a number of clubs following some impressive performances towards the end of last season and he has a very bright future ahead of him. Gary is thrilled that we have managed to attract Jon-Jo to the club, and said that he knew that Bedfont Green were very disappointed to have lost his services.

Jon-Jo isn't an entirely unfamiliar face at the club, as he was often in attendance at games when his Dad, Jon-Barrie, was with the club a few years ago.

A second trialist was also signed last night in the form of 24 year old midfielder/forward Mariusz Serwin, who joins us from Kentish Town where he was playing under former Hendon favourite Rakatahr Hudson, who is now managing Kentish Town.

We welcome both players to the club, and we hope that they have a long and successful time with us.

Tuesday 13 July - London Senior Cup news

There has been a change in how the London Senior Cup is being drawn this season. Rather than draw the whole competition at the start, the London FA will now be drawing it on a round by round basis, and the first round was drawn last night.

We are able to confirm that, as in previous years, we have been exempt to the third round with matches being played in December.

Saturday 10 July - Greens defeated at Maidenhead

A Hendon squad made up largely of trialists and new signings were defeated 3-1 by Maidenhead United at a very warm Bisham Abbey earlier today.

Out of the 19 players who wore Hendon shirts today, only 7 made first team appearances last season.

Maidenhead's goals came in the 5th, 43rd and 48th minute, before Richmond Agyeman pulled a goal back midway through the second half.

Thursday 08 July - Three more players registered

We have registered three more players this evening, taking the total first team squad to 19. All three are current players and are Belal Aite-Ouakrim, Jamie Busby and Berkley Laurencin.

In the FA Trophy First Qualifying Round, we will be away to Harrow Borough on Saturday 16th October.

League fixtures are due to be released on Wednesday 14th July at 10.00am.

Monday 05 July - Dave Stanley Memorial Shield

We are pleased to announce that our friendly at Chesham United will be played for the Dave Stanley Memorial Shield. This is in memory of our former secretary, who was also secretary at Chesham United.

The suggestion for future years is that other clubs that Dave worked for are invited to take part in competing for the shield, perhaps in the form of a pre-season tournament.

Sunday 04 July - Morning kick off for Maidenhead friendly

The friendly against Maidenhead United on Saturday will now kick off at 11:30am. Contrary to earlier reports, the game will be 45 minutes each way.

Saturday 03 July - Players back in training

The first team returned to training this morning with over 30 players attending, including the vast majority of last season's squad. The highlight of the session was the infamous bleep test which was jointly won by James Burgess and Max McCann.

Three new faces were signed today, the first of which is central defender Michael Peacock, who started out at AFC Wimbledon, before moving to Northwood last season. He also spent a period on loan at Ashford Town (Middlesex) the season before last.

The second new face will be partially familar to supporters, as it is David Reading, the twin brother of goalkeeper James. David is a defender who also came through the youth team at Wycombe Wanderers and he had been training with us at times last season.

Finally, Matt O'Brien, who was amongst our trialists last season, has signed for the club. Matt is also a defender who was released by Queens Park Rangers a year ago, and has spent the past year at Hanwell Town.

Also signing forms today were James Burgess, Scott Cousins, Dave Diedhiou, Danny Dyer, Glenn Garner, Freddie Hyatt, Casey Maclaren, Kevin Maclaren, Lee O'Leary, James Parker, James Reading, Lee Scott and Craig Vargas. More players are expected to sign forms over the next few weeks.
