Saturday 30 June - Dean Cracknell joins the Greens

We are pleased to announce that Dean Cracknell, a 28 year old attacking midfielder, has signed for the club at today's first pre-season training session.

Dean joins us from Blue Square South side Welling United for whom he made 22 appearances last season, scoring 3 goals. His final appearance was on the losing side in the play-off final a few weeks ago. He has also played for Thurrock, Boreham Wood, St Albans City and Aylesbury United amongst others.

We warmly welcome Dean to the club as the first new addition to the squad, and hope that he enjoys his time with us.

Ten players who were with us last season have also signed Ryman League registration forms, with more expected to sign on Tuesday evening.

The players are Scott Cousins, Darren Currie, Dave Diedhiou, Jerome Federico, Berkley Laurencin, Michael Lewis, Carl McCluskey, Michael Peacock, Scott Shulton (who joins permanently having been on a dual registration with Bishop's Stortford at the end of last season) and Ryan Wharton.

The only departures from the squad are Elliott Godfrey, who as previously reported has joined Staines Town, and Jamie Busby, who is taking a year out from football to concentrate on his studies, work and family and hopes to return next year.

Saturday 16 June - Godfrey becomes a Swan

It has been announced that Elliott Godfrey has left the club and signed for Blue Square South side Staines Town.

Elliott joined us during pre-season last summer, and was a regular member of the starting line up throughout the campaign, making 41 starts and 6 substitute appearances, scoring 5 goals in the process.

Elliott goes with our very best wishes and grateful thanks for all his efforts over the past year. We know that he found the decision to sign for Staines a very tough one and we wish him every success for the future.

Tuesday 12 June - Ryman League to be expanded

The Ryman League AGM took place on Sunday, at which the provisional league line-up was confirmed for the 2012-13 season.

It was also confirmed that there will be an additional six clubs in the league membership for the following season 2013-14 with all three divisions having 24 clubs. This means that just two clubs will be relegated from the Premier Division at the end of the forthcoming season, and just one apiece from Division One North and Division One South. It was emphasised at the meeting that no reprieves from relegation will be offered even if they would be available under normal circumstances.

This expansion follows the FA's review of promotion arrangements from the 14 Step Five Leagues - the level below the Ryman League. Six of those leagues are in what would generally be considered to be the league's feeder area and that has presented problems in recent seasons.

Promotion to Step Two remains unchanged, with the champions going up automatically, and the next four clubs taking part in the end of season play-offs for the second promotion spot.

Thursday 07 June - FA Trophy to start earlier

The FA have announced this week that the FA Trophy will start earlier in the 2012/13 season, and the final will take place at Wembley Stadium on Sunday 24th March 2013.

The change in date is to allow clubs to concentrate on their league fixtures as the season comes to a close, and also to avoid a clash between play-off fixtures at the FA Trophy final.

"The FA Carlsberg Trophy comprises clubs in the Football Conference, Northern Premier, Southern and Isthmian Leagues and this change allows the showpiece Final to be played at Wembley Stadium and away from the end of season play-off schedules," Charlie Clapham, chairman of the FA Trophy Committee, commented on the FA website yesterday.

“As a consequence, the preceding rounds have also had to be brought forward accordingly and the competition will now commence on Saturday 15 September, 2012.”

The result of this means that our first game, which will be in the First Qualifying Round, is scheduled for Saturday 29th September. There is one round prior to this, the Preliminary Round, which will take place a fortnight earlier.

Further dates are as follows : Second Qualifying Round (27th October), Third Qualifying Round (10th November), First Round (24th November), Second Round (15th December), Third Round (12th January), Fourth Round (26th January), Semi Final First Leg (16th February), Semi Final Second Leg (23rd February).

The draw will be made at the same time as the FA Cup in early July.

Friday 01 June - Sponsored music playathon tomorrow

Tomorrow is the day that Steve Rogers, our match secretary, does his sponsored music playathon. He intends to play through one verse and one chorus of each of the 748 hymns & worship songs in the new Methodist Hymn Book 'Singing The Faith' non-stop between 9am and 6pm at St Margaret's Methodist Church in Luton.

It is not to late to sponsor him, and if you would like to do so, please contact him via the club email on admin@hendonfc.net. All sponsorship donated by those connected with the football club will go directly to the Supporters' Trust. Steve is also separately getting sponsorship to raise funds for his church.

Any donations will be accepted through the Supporters Trust Paypal link on the website or by cheque made out to Hendon Football Club Supporters Trust. Please email the club to find out where to send any cheques.

We are very grateful to those supporters who have already sponsored Steve.

Please remember that it is very important that we all do our best to support the various fundraising activities that are undertaken so that we can keep our club alive and competing at the level we'd like to be playing at.
