Tuesday 29 May - New prices announced

Admission prices for the new season were agreed last week by the Trust board and see several changes to turnstile prices for 2012/13. With regret, but mindful of club finances and the fact that it is four years since the price was originally increased to £9, the board have increased the price for adults to £10 for the new season. However, the adult season ticket has been held at £150, giving a very significant discount on turnstile price.

On a more positive note and to help in attempts to reinvigorate the club's fanbase, we will be offering free entry to all Under 16s from the start of the season. The club would appreciate any assistance from our supporters in promoting this to friends, family and local clubs where possible.

Elsewhere, concession rates remain at £5 on the day or £80 for a season ticket, while we also have retained and held our prices for the vice-presidents club and programme subscriptions. Full details can be found on the admission page via the menu or link below.

Wednesday 23 May - Gary prepares for the new season

Preparations for the new season have taken pace behind the scenes, with Gary McCann already starting to put his squad and pre-season in place. He has had several positive meetings with the club board since the end of last season and has again committed to the Greens' for the coming year, with preparations already well advanced.

Gary held a meeting with the majority of last season's squad last week, with the players saying they are already committed to attempting to surpass this season's efforts and the management looking for just a couple of additions in order to achieve our best season since they took charge. As players put pen to paper and are formally signed, we will confirm the make-up of next season's squad.

Kit was ordered from Adidas on Friday, with the hope that if they can fulfill our order we will be wearing green and white stripes this coming season while our intended away shirt is all-orange with black trim. As soon as we have the actual design confirmed we will be making arrangements for replicas, putting in place the lessons we learnt this season!

Finally, the pre-season program is taking shape - we hope to release more details about this in the next few days.

Monday 21 May - Hendon given green light to find buyer

The Hendon Football Club Supporters Trust, which has owned the football club for the past two years, has unanimously approved a request made by the Trust and Club boards to explore alternative ownership structures for the club.

At a Special General Meeting meeting held at Wembley FC on 17th May, Football Club Chairman Simon Lawrence painted a realistic but bleak picture of the future for Hendon Football Club unless the situation improved.

He said, "We have an ageing fan base and average attendances have dropped. In the short term the opportunities for the Trust to generate income have diminished and are likely to continue to diminish. I firmly believe that the Club cannot exist as a fans-owned club in the long term.

"We haven't got what it takes to be such a club and, quite simply, we cannot sustain it. I believe we need to change the Club's ownership structure in order to secure its long-term future. Without it, the club will die."

Mr Lawrence went on to say that "If we don’t look for an investor or buyer, we certainly won't find one knocking on our door. It won't be easy but we have to try."

Fellow football club director, Dave Bedford, said, "We should all be proud of what we have done to keep the Club alive and that is down to us, the fans.

"One important thing to know is that we are completely debt-free, and that puts us in a better position than many clubs at our level and higher."

The meeting was then thrown open to the floor for questions.

Before the vote was taken, Mr Lawrence made it clear that no decision would be taken without it being put to another Special General Meeting of Hendon FC Supporters Trust members.

The vote was carried unanimously.

Saturday 19 May - Reminder about Sponsored Music Marathon

As we mentioned a couple of weeks ago, Steve Rogers, who is our match secretary, is undertaking an unusual fundraising event at the beginning of June by doing a sponsored organ / piano marathon.

He intends to play through one verse and one chorus of each of the 748 hymns & worship songs in the new Methodist Hymn Book 'Singing The Faith' non-stop between 9am and 6pm at St Margaret's Methodist Church in Luton on Saturday 2nd June.

We had hoped to have sponsor forms available at the SGM on Thursday evening but were unable to due to unforeseen circumstances.

However, if you would like to sponsor him, please contact Steve via the club email on admin@hendonfc.net. All sponsorship donated by those connected with the football club will go directly to the Supporters' Trust. Steve is also separately getting sponsorship to raise funds for his church.

Any donations will be accepted through the Supporters Trust Paypal link on the website or by cheque made out to Hendon Football Club Supporters Trust. Please email the club to find out where to send any cheques.

Please remember that it is very important that we all do our best to support the various fundraising activities that are undertaken so that we can keep our club alive and competing at the level we'd like to be playing at.
