We have also learnt today of the recent passing of Gladys Burt, wife of the late Len Burt. Gladys will be well known to our older supporters, especially as her husband, Len, was for a long time heavily involved with the Supporters Assocation where he was chairman for many years.
Our thoughts are with the family of Gladys at this sad time.

It is with great sadness that we have learnt of the death of long standing supporter Jack Jones, who passed away on Wednesday after a battle with cancer.
Jack was a devoted fan of the club, and had been supporting Hendon for over 60 years. He also occasionally brought along his son David and his grandson Daniel to games.
As well as supporting the club, Jack had spent a lot of time over the past few months researching match results and line ups from the 1940s and 1950s to help us build up the match archive on the website. It was always a pleasure to talk to Jack and listen to his memories of watching the club all those years ago.
We send our deepest symapthies to Jack's family at this very sad time.

The FA have this afternoon announced the provisional league line-up for next season. As expected, Margate have gained a reprieve from relegation for the second season in a row due to the demise of various clubs higher up the pyramid.
There are no clubs relegated to the Ryman League from Blue Square South, whilst coming up from Division One North are Concord Rangers and Lowestoft Town, and from Division One South are Folkestone Invicta and Croydon Athletic. Also joining us from the Zamaretto League Midland Division are Bury Town.
The full list is as follows : AFC Hornchurch, Aveley, Billericay Town, Bury Town, Canvey Island, Carshalton Athletic, Concord Rangers, Cray Wanderers, Croydon Athletic, Folkestone Invicta, Harrow Borough, Hastings United, Hendon, Horsham, Kingstonian, Lowestoft Town, Maidstone United, Margate, Sutton United, Tonbridge Angels, Tooting & Mitcham United, Wealdstone.
The constitution will be confirmed at the Ryman League AGM which takes place in mid-June. The FA have also said that they have a number of issues still to be sorted out, so it is possible that there may be some alterations to the list ahead of the AGM.
Fixtures are expected to be released in mid-July, and the new season will start on Saturday 21st August.

The Under 21s secured third place in the Middlesex County League Division One Central & East yesterday afternoon with a 3-3 draw against FC Team.
The Greens took the lead in the 17th minute through man of the match Lewis Cook, before Stephen Cunningham doubled the lead a minute before the break. However, FC Team pulled a goal back from the penalty spot on the stroke of half time.
FC Team equalised in the 63rd minute, before taking the lead sixteen minutes later. Hendon's equaliser came in stoppage time when Gianni Marotta found the back of the net, a goal that secured third spot for the Greens.

While the football is over for a few months, work continues behind the scenes. The club has now agreed a budget for the coming season with Gary McCann. Although it has proved necessary to reduce the budget from last season's level in order to help balance the books, Gary, Freddie, Roy and Mark remain fully committed to the club.
Gary has already started speaking to players to positive effect. Although next season is likely to be a huge challenge on the pitch, it is a challenge that Gary, his management team and playing staff are already looking forward to.

As some of our supporters will be aware, our squad this season shared a bet that saw every outfield regular looking to score at least one goal this season. Although clearly getting on the scoresheet is incentive in itself, an additional wager between the players saw the team agreeing that any regular that failed to score would turn out at the end of the season in a dress.
A number of players came close, with Danny Dyer's goal early in the season against Aveley earning him a reprieve, while Kevin Maclaren's goal in the 17th(!) minute of first half stoppage time against Horsham was enough to save the younger Maclaren brother. Club captain James Parker's excellent shot on the turn at Harrow saved him the humiliation, while James Burgess did everyone a favour in the last week of the season by netting the final goal against Maidstone to avoid the forfeit.
However, Craig Vargas failed to find the back of the net despite winning the 'miss of the season award' against Waltham Abbey and being given every chance by being sent up front towards the end of the season on several occasions by Gary McCann and so was subjected to the embarrassment of turning out in public in a full women's outfit last Thursday.
To his credit, Craig arrived at last week's supporter vs first XI match not only in dress and short top, but played for the first twenty minutes or so in the same clothes before changing into his normal kit. Unfortunately for Craig, a change of outfit did nothing for his game - despite playing against a team of amateurs, he still failed to score!

The under 16's season ended in defeat on Sunday as they lost 1-0 at Wealdstone, the goal coming in the final minute.
On a pitch that was heavy following the overnight downpours, both teams found it difficult to play decent football, particularly as there was also a gusty wind and Wealdstone scored with the last chance of the game.
Manager Paul McGreal was disappointed after the game and said "The difficult conditions made it tough, and we also suffered from some poor discipline. My man of the match today was goalkeeper Liam Hyland."

Boreham Wood, Folkstone Invicta and Concord Rangers won their respective Ryman League Playoff finals this afternoon, to seal respective promotions to the next level of football. Boreham Wood's 2-0 win means that Hendon's regular bank holiday rivals will most likely spend next season in Conference South, Dewayne Clarke sealing promotion with a strike worthy of winning virtually any game not long before the final whistle.
Folkstone Invicta and Concord Rangers won their respective finals 2-1 and 3-1, meaning Hendon are likely to face relatively long trips to replace Wood and relegation candidates Ashford Town (Middx). Elsewhere, former Don John Frendon scored in the first half as Chesham United sealed promotion with a victory over Slough Town.
The FA are expected to meet and confirm our opponents for next season in the next few weeks - Greensnet will carry the news as soon as we hear.
