Monday 31 December - New Years Day Preview

Hendon entertain Harrow Borough tomorrow afternoon in a 2pm kick off at The LOOT Stadium looking to earn their first double of the season. Hendon had a comfortable 2-0 win at Harrow earlier this season, and go into the game on a high following the 6-4 win at Billericay on Saturday afternoon. Harrow have not won in the league since 22nd September when they won 3-0 at Purfleet, and in fact have won just one game in their last 16 in all competitions, that win coming against Camberley Town in the League Cup. Hendon will be confidence of gaining a result, but must not take anything for granted.

Saturday 29 December - Greens win in Essex!

Hendon won in a league game in Essex for the first time in over 18 months with a 6-4 victory at Billericay Town. Hendon took an early lead, Cooper putting the ball away after King made a good save. However, Cooper was then unfortunate enough to get a head to a Billericay corner 5 minutes later, and equalise for the Blues. A second goal after around another ten minutes for Billericay left Hendon wondering what they had to do to win in Essex, but the answer came in the 44th minute. Binns came on for Woodruffe and immediately revitalised the Dons. In the 48th minute, Forbes equalised for the Greens, and a minute later a contender for goal of the season followed from Micky Woolner. Carthy notched another two goals to put the Blues back in the lead, but Binns managed to work two goals in the 81st and 86th minutes to put the Greens ahead. Hendon nerves were finally settled by a 92nd minute effort by Ofori.

Friday 28 December - Injury news

There is good news on the injury front as Ricci Crace is now back in full training and it is hoped that he will play for the reserves when they recommence their fixtures early in the new year. Meanwhile, Warren Kelly has had some excellent news following his recent knee scan which has shown that the damage is not as bad as first feared, and it is hoped that he will be available for first team selection sometime in March.

Many supporters will be aware that Paul Towler has missed the last couple of games because his daughter Emma, who was 5 years old last week, has been in hospital with pneumonia. Emma had a second operation earlier this week, and the early signs are that she is making a good recovery. We wish Emma all the best for a speedy recovery, and wish Paul and the rest of the family all the best at what must be a difficult time.

Friday 28 December - Weekend preview

Hendon travel to Billericay Town tomorrow afternoon hoping to see an improvement in their away league form so far this season. Billericay are currently in a bad run of form, and have failed to win any of their previous seven league games, a run of results which has seen them lose touch with the leading clubs. They have also conceded eight goals in their last two home games, a 5-0 defeat against St Albans City, and a 3-0 Boxing Day defeat against leaders Canvey Island.

Wednesday 26 December - St Albans game off

Today's game at St Albans City was called off just 45 minutes before kick off due to one part of the pitch being considered dangerous. One of the linesman made the decision as the match referee was stuck in traffic, but the decision was not made until both goalkeepers had tried out the affected area, and both keepers felt that it was unsafe and too slippery. No new date has been set for the game to be played

Sunday 23 December - Boxing Day preview

Hendon make the short journey to St Albans City on Boxing Day, looking to end the Clarence Park club's recent excellent run that has seen them win their last six league matches. However, the home side have been hit with the news in the past few days that they face a winding up order in the new year, and their long term future is currently in some doubt. However, Hendon will not let this worry them as they bid to also keep clear of the relegation spot by returning to winning ways and continuing the recent good hard working performances.

Thursday 20 December - Youth team result

The Under-18's lost 3-1 at home to Wingate & Finchley, but competed well until they conceded 2 goals in the last 5 minutes. After Wingate had taken a half time lead, Hendon equalised through Brian Haule. However, manager Steve Neville felt able to take a number of positives out of the game as he looks to strengthen his squad as we go into the new year.

Tuesday 18 December - Shots take three points in the fog

Hendon lost 1-0 to Aldershot Town tonight, but managed to keep the Shots far quieter than in May, when the Hampshire side left the LOOT Stadium five goals to the good. The sole goal in the game came from Mark Bentley in the 38th minute, Hendon appearing to keeping Aldershot's chances limited, whilst the Greens' chances themselves were limited, Woodruffe shooting narrowly wide and Randall having a chance early in the second half, but being unable to convert it. Micky Woolner was sent off in the 83rd minute for a nasty challenge but the game was more notable for the fact that it was actually completed, the pitch unusually not being the potential reason for abandoning the game, but the fog that came down posing a potential threat to Aldershot's three points as for much of the game supporters behind the goal could not see much further than the halfway line.

Saturday 15 December - Purfleet's run ended

Hendon ended their Purfleet hoodoo at Claremont Road with their first win at home over the Essex side since the 1994/1995 season. Hendon were forced to work hard in grinding out the result, but it was a piece of bad defending that gifted the Greens their goal - Woodruffe latching onto a poor backpass to slot the ball home for a goal on his debut for the Dons. There were few other clearcut chances for either side, Hendon taking the points and consequently moving up to 15th in the table

Saturday 08 December - Another Gray day

Hendon suffered another disappointing defeat at the hands of Grays Athletic today, losing to two early goals. The first came in only the second minute, although Hendon didn't allow such a disappointing goal knock the stuffing out of them, Binns having several chances before Grays got their second, Hendon defender Simon Clarke's attempted clearance going into his own net. Hendon kept the fight up and created a number of chances, Binns, Nartey and Pickett in particular having good attempts, but the Greens couldn't capitalise and failed to take anything home with them

Saturday 01 December - Yates seals trophy win

Hendon beat Maidenhead United 2-1 at York Road, with two good goals giving the Greens passage through to the 3rd Round of the FA Trophy. Revenge for Maidenhead's 3-1 league win in October looked likely in the first minute when an early corner from Bubb was met by Pickett who headed home his second Trophy goal this season. Hendon had on other good chance, a free kick from Bubb which just went over. Maidenhead, meanwhile, had much of the posession for the rest of the half, but managed to do little with it. Hendon scored again in the 62nd minute, Clarke playing the ball across the pitch to Bubb, who in turn found Paul Yates breaking clear giving Yates the simple job of putting the ball through Barnard's legs for a well worked goal. Maidenhead refused to give in, hitting back almost straight away through Ricky Ibe, but couldn't muster the equaliser.
