Tuesday 21 November - Greens drop two points in last ten minutes

It was ultimately a disappointing night for the first team as they conceded two goals in the last ten minutes to draw 3-3 against leaders Dulwich Hamlet. However, at half time it all looked so different with the Greens 3-1 ahead after an outstanding 45 minutes.

Niko Muir had put the Greens ahead in the 6th minute, before Ashley Carew equalised for the visitors. However within a couple of minutes the Greens were back in front when Dave Diedhiou fired a diving bullet header past Preston Edwards following a perfect cross from Zak Joseph. Shortly before half-time Edwards committed a foul in the box and Muir stepped up to convert the spot kick with his 21st goal of the season.

The second half saw the Greens create a number of half chances, but in the 81st minute Dulwich were given a lifeline when Carew converted a penalty after a handball in the box. The Greens were then made to pay for not keeping possession of the ball when Rickie Hayles lashed the ball home in a crowded penalty area with the last kick of the game.

After the final whistle, the Dulwich fans showed their appreciation to the Greens for the support following their recent news.

Saturday 18 November - Greens almost throw it away

The first team were indebted to a late late equaliser from Zak Joseph to ensure something was taken from today's game against Burgess Hill Town, the final score being 2-2.

The performance was far less dominating than last week, and it took until just before half time for the Greens to take the lead when Dave Diedhiou bundled the ball home.

Burgess Hill were much improved on last week and equalised in the 89th minute when Aaron Smith-Joseph found the back of the net. Within a couple of minutes they had taken the lead through Pat Harding and it looked as though all three points were going back to Sussex.

However, a Burgess Hill defender committed a foul a couple of yards outside the box, and Joseph stepped up to fire home a fine free kick much to the relief of his teammates and the Greens supporters.

Saturday 18 November - 350 up for Dave Diedhiou

This afternoon saw Dave Diedhiou make his 350th appearance, and mark it with his 38th goal for the club. Dave is just the 16th player (based on existing records) to reach this appearance milestone and we hope that there are many more to come.

There will be a feature on Dave and his milestone in a future matchday programme.

Thursday 16 November - Are you planning to go to Hythe?

Any supporters planning to travel by train to Hythe for our Velocity Trophy tie are warned that the nearest station, Sandling, is around 30 minutes walk from the ground (uphill back to the station). Also the last train back towards London is at 22:16, and requires a change at Ashford International to catch a HS1 service to St Pancras.

It is quicker to travel to Sandling from St Pancras, changing at Ashford International, although trains do run direct from Charing Cross at 16:50 and Cannon Street at 17:24, taking approximately 100 minutes.

Hythe advise booking a taxi for the trip between the station and the ground and recommend Folkestone Taxi's on 01303 252000.

Tuesday 14 November - Zak Joseph hat-trick secures cup progression

A sixteen minute second half hat-trick from Zak Joseph ensured that the first team progressed into the third round of the Velocity (Isthmian League) Cup courtesy of a 5-1 win over Grays Athletic.

However, it was the visitors who drew first blood in a repeat of the 2015 final when Jamie Slabber netted from close range, but just five minutes later the Greens were level when Keagan Cole headed home a fine cross from Joseph.

Joseph's first goal came in the 56th minute, and he soon followed up with further strikes in the 69th and 72nd minutes before Matt Ball completed the scoring with three minutes to go.

A trip to Division One South side Hythe Town awaits in the next round, the date for the game is to be confirmed.

Monday 13 November - Guess what? We're at home again!

In one of the most unsurprising bits of news this season, we have another home draw in the FA Trophy, this time against our old friends Slough Town. This means that all of our games in November will be played at SJP (subject to any replay against Slough or another fixture being slotted in the final midweek of the month).

Slough, who were long time fellow members of the Isthmian League now ply their trade in the Evo-Stik South Premier Division, where they currently lie in third place with 34 points from 14 games.

The game will be played on Saturday 25th November at SJP, replacing our trip to Lowestoft Town.

Sunday 12 November - Hendon make offer to Dulwich

As many supporters will be aware of the news surrounding Dulwich Hamlet and their ownership and potentially their future being in doubt, a situation we at Hendon are familiar with.

Simon Lawrence, our Chairman, has made the following offer to Dulwich's chairman Liam Hickey, and we reproduce that offer below.

"Hi Liam. I hope you're well despite today's result. We've been watching developments at your club very closely and wanted to offer you our support over the next few months.

"We're due to play you at SJP on Tuesday week (21st) and would like to take this opportunity to offer some more tangible support.

"In the corresponding game last season, a total of 151 adults paid £10 each to attend. We would like to donate £5 for every paying adult on Tuesday week in excess of 151 to your 12th man fund.

"So if, for example, we have 201 paying adults, we would donate £250.

"In addition, we would like to split our normal bucket collection with you for that game 50/50.

"I know it's unlikely to be a huge amount of money in total but we wanted to do something for a club who we hold in very high regard.

"Please feel free to promote the game and our offer of help in whatever way you choose. The better you promote it, the more money there is in for you (and us)!

"I look forward to seeing you on the 21st.

"I hope developments are positive in the meantime.

"Simon"

In addition to this, the SJP management have pledged to donate £1 per pint sold to be split evenly between both clubs.

A superb performance from the first team ensured progression into the third qualifying round of the FA Trophy thanks to a 3-0 win over Burgess Hill Town.

Niko Muir opened the scoring from the penalty spot in the 15th minute, and a few minutes later Zak Joseph doubled the lead. The final goal came in the second half, when Muir scored his 19th goal of the season - and his 30th for the club to ensure the win was secured.

The draw for the next round is due to be made on Monday lunchtime, and ties will take place on the weekend of 25th November.

Tuesday 07 November - Harrow beaten as Greens reach quarter finals

The first team reached the quarter finals of the Middlesex Senior Cup this evening courtesy of a 2-1 win over Harrow Borough on a very wet evening at SJP.

The first half was goalless, with the only moments of note coming when Harrow defender Arinse Uade headed the ball past his own keeper, but was relieved to see the ball rebound off the post to safety, whilst at the other end Sam Murphy and Tom Lovelock combined to make three excellent clearances/saves in the space of a few seconds

The second half opened with the Greens taking the lead in the 51th minute when Ashley Nathaniel-George fired the ball home after Sam Murphy had a penalty well saved by Melvin Minter. Twenty minutes later Kurtis Cumberbatch equalised, but substitute Niko Muir secured the win when he was sent clear by Kezie Ibe to score his 17th goal of the season.

Contrary to previous understanding, the Middlesex FA website shows that we will be at home to Spelthorne Sports in the quarter finals, which are due to be played in the week commencing 15th January. The other ties are Wealdstone v Hampton & Richmond Borough, Staines Town v Uxbridge and Enfield 1893 v Barnet. Should we beat Spelthorne Sports, we will be at home to Enfield 1893 or Barnet in the semi-finals.

Saturday 04 November - Unbeaten home record ends

The first team's unbeaten home record this season, and 100% home record in the league came to an end as Kingstonian ran out 3-1 winners. It was a win that the visitors thoroughly deserved with the Greens second best for much of the game. However, it must be said there was no lack of effort from Hendon, but it was a day when things just didn't work out.

Kingstonian took an early lead when Reece Grant scored in the 4th minute and it took a while for the Greens to work their way back into the game, but they were rewarded when Niko Muir fired the ball home in the 28th minute.

Taylor Miles restored the lead in the 54th minute, and the result was secured by Tom Derry who scored the third with twelve minutes to go.
