We are pleased to welcome Bradley Thomas to the club. Bradley is a 25 year old central defender who joins from Sutton United and made his impressive debut yesterday in the win at Aveley alongside James Parker.

Despite their torrid recent form, a somewhat resurgent Hendon pulled together to complete the double over Aveley this afternoon at Mill Road. Hendon started the brighter, Billy Dunn having an excellent chance early to open the scoring, but rolling the ball wide of the far post after just getting clear of Ollie Morris-Sanders. Midway through the half, Casey Mclaren broke the deadlock, rising inside the 6 yard box to head home after a Wayne O'Sullivan corner had been flicked on by James Parker. Shortly after Peter Dean doubled the lead after a similar set-piece delivery was headed back across goal for him to head inside the near post. Aveley came back strong late in the half and had several good chances to get back into the game, but a combination of good goalkeeping and poor finishing denied the home side.
The second half was an entirely different story as the Greens struggled to get any authority on the game and Aveley took full control. In the 64th minute James Reading was forced to make a low save to his right, but was unable to get to the rebound which Martin Tuohy rifled home. The Millers continued to have the better of the game, but those shots which were on target failed to trouble Reading unduly as Hendon looked to see out a nervous 45 minutes. Shortly before the game moved into stoppage time, debutant Bradley Thomas was sent off after clinically stopping a forward from breaking clear, but the visitors just about held firm to secure a valuable three points.

Both our games against Carshalton Athletic and Maidstone United in the next few weeks have been postponed. Carshalton are now unable to visit on Tuesday evening after a 1-1 draw in the FA Trophy at Weston-Super-Mare this afternoon while Maidstone's 1-0 win has left us with a blank date on December 12th as the next round is due to be played that weekend.
We are hopeful that we will be able to arrange another fixture to replace our trip to Maidstone - details will follow.

Hendon were left rueing the fact that their performance in the final third wasn't good enough this afternoon at Waltham Abbey, with the home side winning 1-0 thanks to an 83rd minute goal from Billy Holland. The Greens' best chances came in the second half, but both Billy Dunn and Wayne O'Sullivan saw their shots well saved by the home keeper, whilst Craig Vargas' close range header flew narrowly over the bar.

It has been brought to our attention this evening that there is an article in one of the local papers stating that our game with South Kilburn has been fixed for Saturday 5th December. We can confirm that this is not the case and we will be playing Kingstonian the following day as already expected. The date and time of our London Senior Cup tie will be announced here once available.

Hendon were beaten 2-1 at Tonbridge Angels last night in a game that was thoroughly entertaining from start to finish. Both sides played some excellent passing football during the game, and it was the Greens who had the better chances to open the scoring. However it was Tonbridge who struck first when Lee Minshull scored shortly before half-time.
Only a minute into the second period, Hendon equalised when Billy Dunn's shot hit a divot and flew over the dive of Angels keeper Lee Worgan. The Greens then had a couple of chances to take the lead, but were punished just after the hour mark when Paul Booth was allowed through to score.

After much heavy rain in the local area over the last 48 hours, today's game with Tooting & Mitcham has been postponed. A pitch inspection was carried out around 10 minutes ago and it was felt that the surface at Vale Farm was too waterlogged for the game to stand a chance of going ahead.
A new date will be announced for the match in due course.

Lubomir Guentchev notched up his 100th appearance in yesterday's cup match with Wingate, becoming the fifth member of the current playing squad to reach the mark (Gary McCann and Freddie Hyatt are also members of this select club, but both hung up their boots long ago!)
Lubo made his debut in August 2007 as a substitute against Heybridge Swifts in a 0-0 draw, having decided to join his father, Bontcho, and brother, Iavor, at the club. Lubo has recently hit a rich vein of form - not least proved by his hat-trick at the weekend and made himself an integral part of the club's current squad.

With 6 minutes to go in extra time, Hendon were in a comfortable position to close the game out and secure progression to the next round of the league cup. However, they failed to do so, Wingate & Finchley scored two late goals, the second coming with seconds left to go in extra time, and the away side went on to win 4-3 on penalties.
Hendon had the perfect start when Billy Dunn opened his account for the club in the 5th minute, but 20 minutes later Michael Lenahan equalised for Wingate. There were no further goals in normal time, but within 8 minutes of extra time starting, Hendon were two goals ahead. First of all a cross from Lubo Guentchev hit Peter Dean and found the back of the net, and then another Guentchev cross found Lewis Ochoa who bundled the ball home.
All the Greens had to do was close the game out, but Wingate had other ideas. James Gershfield scored in the 114th minute, and with seconds to go, David Laird took the game to penalties. For Hendon, though, it wasn't all misery as Lee O'Leary made a cameo appearance for the last ten minutes, his first appearance since his triple fracture at Horsham last season.

Hendon had to twice come back from two goals down at AFC Hornchurch in a game that finally ended 4-4, and the Greens had Lubomir Guentchev to thank as the Bulgarian scored a hat-trick.
The game opened in disastrous fashion as the Urchins went two goals head inside the first six minutes through Jo Flack and Wayne Gray. Guentchev pulled a goal back in the 25th minute, before equalising two minutes into the second half.
AFC Hornchurch regained the initiative ten minutes later through Reece Prestedge, and in the 71st minute Mark Janney made it 4-2. But as is so often the case, the Greens refused to give up and were rewarded in the 84th minute when James Bent scored, and with a minute of normal time to go, Guentchev completed his hat-trick and secured the point for the Greens.

Our outstanding away trip to Wealdstone has been rearranged for Tuesday 5th January, kick off 7.45pm. While the league are still to confirm that they are happy with the agreed date, we don't expect there to be any problems.

Our opponents in the London Senior Cup will be South Kilburn, who beat Dulwich Hamlet 2-1 at Champion Hill tonight. A number of the faces from our opponents will be familiar as the squad can often be seen in the bar at Vale Farm after their home games which take place in the athletics ground across the car park. The date of the tie is still to be confirmed.
