Hendon won 2-1 at Leyton this evening in the London Senior Cup, and their reward is a trip to Bromley in the semi-finals on a date to be confirmed. The Greens took the lead shortly before half-time through Casey Maclaren, before Belal Aiteouakrim doubled the lead in the 65th minute. Leyton scored a consolation late on in the game, but Hendon held on to complete their 3rd win of the season over the East London club.

In the words of Gary McCann, Hendon "stopped the rot" this afternoon by picking up their first point of 2008 as they drew 1-1 with Margate at Claremont Road. The Greens took the lead in the 38th minute when Danny Dyer scored with a delicious lob from 25 yards, whilst the Margate equaliser came when Ryan Martin finished off a counter-attack shortly after the hour mark.

Hendon progressed into the Middlesex Senior Cup final for the fifth time in nine years tonight with a 3-0 with over Northwood. The Greens took an early lead through Casey Maclaren, and shortly afterwards Northwood had a penalty saved by Luke Blackmore. The second goal was a fine effort from Daniel Dyer in the 77th minute before Iavor Guentchev completed the scoring late on with his first senior goal for the club.
The final will be against Hampton & Richmond Borough, who beat Uxbridge 2-0 this evening. The final takes place on Easter Monday, 24th March, and kicks off at 7.30pm. The venue for the game is Uxbridge FC. As a consequence, our home game against Boreham Wood on the same day has been postponed and a new date will be announced in due course.

Hendon lost their sixth league game in succession this afternoon as Maidstone United ran out 3-2 winners. Maidstone took the lead in the 33rd minute when Andy Pugh scored with a superb 25 yard strike, but the Greens equalised almost immediately when Lee O'Leary celebrated his return by converting a low right-wing cross. In the 41st minute Brian Haule gave Hendon a half-time lead when his ball across the face of goal deflected into the net off the backside of Maidstone's Ben Lewis. In the second-half the Greens played well for the first fifteen minutes but then played very poorly for the last half-hour and let Maidstone back into the game. The Stones equalised in the 67th minute through Jacob Erksine before Lyndon Rowlands scored the winner three minutes from time following some very poor defending from a corner.

The club have announced this afternoon that midfielder Lee O'Leary has returned to the club, with all paperwork being completed with the Ryman League today. O'Leary originally joined the club in 2006 and captained the side on numerous occasions in the 2006/07 season. He left to join AFC Wimbledon in March last year, before moving on to Wealdstone last summer where he has been a regular part of their side. Wealdstone released him from his contract earlier this week and Lee then agreed terms to return to Claremont Road. He made 51 appearances for us in his first spell, scoring 7 goals. We warmly welcome Lee back to the club, and hope that once again he enjoys his time with us.

Our two games without dates have now been arranged. Firstly on Tuesday 26th February we will travel to Leyton for our London Senior Cup Quarter Final tie. Kick off at Lea Bridge Road will be at 7.45pm. Leyton progressed to the last eight by beating Beckenham Town 3-2 last week. The winners will go on to travel to Bromley in the semi-finals after the Lilywhites beat AFC Wimbledon 4-1 last night.
Our outstanding league game at home against Ashford Town (Middlesex) will take place on Tuesday 18th March, kicking off at 7.45pm at Claremont Road. This means that have no other outstanding games to fix dates for at the moment.

Hendon's search for their first league points of 2008 continues after they lost 1-0 at AFC Hornchurch this afternoon. The decisive goal came on the stroke of half-time when Jamie Richards poked the ball home in a goalmouth scramble despite the Greens having the better of the first period. The Green's best chances came when both Sam Collins and Brian Haule saw their shots come off the woodwork. In the second half Lubo Guentchev fired narrowly over the bar, whilst the Hornchurch keeper was forced to make one fine save. However, at the other end, Hornchurch failed to test Richard Wilmot and the Greens were perhaps unfortunate not to come away from the game with a point.

Last week our supporters team lost 3-2 at Harlow, but put in a good performance. The goals were scored by Kazim Eiwazali and Nick McMullen. The next game will be on 16th February, away against Maidstone United supporters. If you are interested in playing, please email Eddie Edwards on email@example.com as soon as possible. Maidstone have secured a pitch near to their current home in Sittingbourne.

Following James Burgess reaching the 200 appearance milestone on Tuesday evening, Richard Wilmot has reached the 100 appearance milestone today. Richard originally joined us on loan for 3 months in August 2000 and made his debut in the 1-0 defeat to Sutton United on 28th August 2000. He then returned later that season sharing the keeping duties with Gary McCann during our fixture pile-up of that season. Richard then returned to the club during the summer of 2006 and has been the number one choice ever since.
