Friday 31 January - Two new signings

Dave Anderson has made two new signings this evening. Experienced central defender Lee Harvey has signed having been released recently by Boreham Wood, while supporters will be delighted to hear that popular goalkeeper Gary McCann has rejoined the club after recent spells at Aylesbury United and Slough Town. We welcome both players to the club, and hope that they enjoy their time with the club. Speaking about the arrivals Dave Anderson said to Greensnet "These two signings are hopefully a sign to the supporters that we intend to continue the progress we have made so far this season, and will give some more strength to the squad as well as adding a lot of experience."

We will update the website as early as we can tomorrow morning once we know whether there is an inspection or not as we realise people will be setting out for the journey north.

Hendon secured a trip up to Unibond League side Wakefield and Emley on Saturday afternoon, with a 2-1 victory over Essex side Heybridge Swifts. Hendon scored in the 19th minute through Ricci Crace who fired home from inside a crowded area to take a short lived lead. Heybridge equalised just four minutes later, Paul Abrahams scoring from the penalty spot. However, Heybridge themselves gave away a somewhat dubious penalty in the 48th minute, Kieran Gallager scoring to give the Dons a lead that they would comfortably hold onto for the rest of the game.

Tuesday 28 January - FA Trophy replay tonight

Tonight sees Heybridge Swifts make the trip to Claremont Road for the delayed FA Trophy Third Round replay that was postponed last week. Heybridge haven't won since beating Enfield 3-2 shortly before Christmas, and went down 2-0 at home to Canvey Island on Saturday, a result that dropped them into the relegation zone. Meanwhile, Hendon will be looking to bounce back from the disappointing performance on Saturday against Hampton & Richmond Borough, and will be keen to ensure the club has a good FA Trophy run this season. There are no plans for any inspections today, there has been very little rain since Saturday afternoon, and the game should go ahead as planned. Kick off tonight is at 7.30pm and the game will be played to a finish, with extra time and penalties if necessary.

The reserve teams' unbeaten run came to an end on Saturday afternoon as they lost 1-0 at Thame United. They are back in action this evening as they travel to Hayes for their Middlesex Premier Cup semi-final. The winners will face Uxbridge in the final. The Under 17's had some cup success as they beat league leaders Brook House 4-1 in the League Cup, while Craig Jones hit five goals for the Under 15's as they won 9-0 at Greenford Celtic. It was also good news for the Under 14's who beat South Ruislip Rangers 5-0, Franklin Morris scoring twice, but the Under 13's slipped to a disappointing 6-2 defeat at home to Headstone Manor A, Srdan Jovanovic scoring both goals. As usual full details can be found on the relevant team pages.

Monday 27 January - Former non-league international signs

Former non-league international Lee Endersby signed for the club on Saturday morning in time to make a startling debut against Hampton & Richmond Borough. Within 90 seconds of coming on to the pitch, he scored with his first touch as he struck a freekick over the wall and past Andy Iga in goal, and in the dying minutes he converted a penalty after Rob Haworth was brought down in the area needlessly by Chris Rose. Endersby made his name playing for Harrow Borough and then made a £17,000 move to Enfield. He has since played for a number of clubs, most recently for Tooting & Mitcham United, for whom he played against Hendon in the FA Cup earlier this season.

Saturday 25 January - Greens beaver away

Hendon salvaged a point from a poor first half performance, which had seen bottom of the table Hampton & Richmond Borough 2-0 up into the break. Hampton, with only one win in the league this season, scored their first after just 9 minutes through ex-Green Jessie Hall. A cross took a wicked deflection off a red shirt, falling to Hall nicely for him to slam the ball home. The Beavers' second followed in the 32nd minute, Ashley Sestanovich lifting a free kick over the wall and into the top corner. A lifeline did appear for Hendon, however, in the form of a red card for Tony Houghton who was given his second booking in the 41st minute for kicking the ball away - somewhat bizarely after Hampton had been awarded a free kick!

Hendon played rather better after the break, scoring just five minutes into the second half through Ricci Crace, who put the ball just inside the near post from the edge of the area. Hampton, however, belied their poor showing in the goals scored column this season by adding another to their total through Wayne Cort (brother of Carl) who slammed the ball home for 3-1. Hendon were unwilling to roll over however, and the lifeline came through substitute debutant Lee Endersby who scored a free kick from the edge of the area. Crace continued to cause problems for the Hampton defence, and the pressure finally told in the 90th minute, with the youngster winning a penalty, which Endersby slammed home for his second goal to keep the Greens in touching distance of Aldershot Town.

Meanwhile, the reserves travel to Thame United in a relegation clash in the Suburban League. As usual, if there is any pitch inspections we will bring you news tomorrow morning, but at the current time it is hoped that after a few dry days the game will go ahead.

Saturday 18 January - Hendon motor on

Hendon beat an on form Ford United - at their Barkingside ground, rising to fourth in the league in the process. Ricci Crace laid on the first chance for Ofori in the 14th minute, getting behind the defence and laying on a cross that left the Ghanaian with a relatively easy chance. The Greens' second came nine minutes later, a free kick getting enough of a deflection off a defender's head to lift the ball over former Hendon 'keeper Paul Newell. Crace struck in the 70th minute to put the result beyond all reasonable result, although Ford did manage to score six minutes later though Glenn Poole.

Tonights FA Trophy tie at Heybridge Swifts ended goalless as both sides showed signs of rustiness following their weather enforced layoffs. Hendon had the better chances of the game, with Steve Butler, Ricci Crace, Martin Randall and Eugene Ofori all failing to convert chances. The replay will take place next Tuesday evening at Claremont Road. Kick off is expected to be 7.45pm although this has still to be confirmed. This means that our Bryco Cup tie against Wingate & Finchley has once again been postponed. Tuesday 14 January - Heybridge is on

It looks very likely that the enforced three and a half week winter break that we have endured is coming to an end. Now the weather has turned milder and the pitches have thawed out, Heybridge are expecting tonight's FA Trophy tie to go ahead without any problems. Kickoff at Scraley Road is 7.30pm. Both sides have yet to play in 2003, Hendon last played at Basingstoke on 21st December, while Heybridge last played on 28th December when they lost 3-0 at Chesham United in a league game. Friday 03 January - Billericay visit tomorrow

Tomorrow afternoon, Hendon entertain Billericay Town at Claremont Road, kick-off 3.00 pm. The two teams met at New Lodge in late August and the game ended goalless, the Blues hanging on for an hour with 10 men after Alvin Bubb, cousin of Hendon's Byron, had been dismissed. Coincidentally, both Bubbs left their clubs within a few weeks of this game and are now teammates at Slough. Last season, Hendon lost the second game of the campaign 3-1 at home (Simon Clarke scoring), but the return was one of the greatest games of all-time. It ended 6-4 to Hendon with goals from Mark Cooper, Micky Woolner, Steve Forbes, Dale Binns (2) and Eugene Ofori, and Hendon also contributed 3 own goals to Billericay's tally! Billericay are currently in 10th in the Ryman League Premier Division following their 1-1 draw at home to Aylesbury last Saturday, but they do have the tightest defence in the division with just 18 goals conceded so far.
